Beginning with his first title Opal Cutting Made Easy in 1984, he quickly became known world-wide
as the "ultimate opal dealer." His major goal became to educate and adict others to the wonderful world of opal.
Opal lapidary classes were taught to all those who were interested in cutting this unique gemstone. In 1999 his teachings
were enhanced with the publication of Opal Advanced Cutting & Setting. With the introduction of Opal Identification
and Value in 1992, the world began to more thoroughly understand this beautiful gemstone and finally a methodology
was created to properly characterize, identify and place an honest value on the stone. The reviews were overwhelming. This
was what the world had been looking for. By 2003 an updated, revised and expanded Opal Identification & Value
was developed and printed. A completely new book covering all aspects of opal in magnificent photographs and example stones,
the task was complete. Although both Opal
Cutting Made Easy and Opal Advanced Cutting & Setting are now out-of-print, the
newly published Opal & Gemstone Jewelry: Cutting * Designing * Setting has taken the best of
both these titles, expanded locations, techniques, equipment and suppliers; added in other gemstones such as agate, chrysoprase,
petrified wood, etc., and published the consumate title on lapidary techniques.
